Red oolong tea is produced under special process. It takes usually longer than the regular (green) lightly oxidized tea to produce, and it is more labor intense. It is close to the traditional tea producing which has around 40-60% of oxidation. The red tea is fully oxidized with 85% or above of oxidation. The taste, on the other hand, is very sweet, honey like aftertaste. It is very similar to Dongfeng Meiren known as Oriental Beauty (Eastern Beauty), though it is not from the Hsinchu region, this tea comes from Ali Shan region. Nonetheless, it is non-certified, organic or bio tea, so that special tea leaf bugs are left to bite the leaf, which brings the honey-like and sweet aroma.
